2012中法文化之春 Festival Croisements 2012
2012中法文化之春-日程安排

Eight years of cooperation with China and a line-up of artists that is as exceptional as ever! This year, a trio of Chinese venues that will have the pleasure of welcoming respectively Jacky Terrasson in Shanghai and Philippe Léogé in Qingdao and Beijing, both of whom are emeritus jazz pianists, as well as Kotaro Fukuma, a prestigious and internationally successful pianist, and Adam Laloum, who was nominated for the Victoires de la Musique awards.

Created in Toulouse in 1979, the Piano aux Jacobins Festival is a big event dedicated to the piano held every year in September in Toulouse. Since 2005, the festival's artistic directors Catherine d’Argoubet and Paul-Arnaud Péjouan have worked to forge ever closer links between the festival and China by organising tours and special programming as part of the Croisements Festival in Beijing, Shanghai and Xiamen.

Jacky Terrasson
Discovered in France alongside Barney Wilen at the end of the 1980s, the pianist Jacky Terrasson saw his fame grow when he joined the American scene by moving to New York in 1990, where he would accompany among others the singer Betty Carter. But it was the trio he formed with the bassist Ugonna Okegwo and the drummer Leon Parker that established him as a rising star of jazz piano, which he treated in a very percussive manner, rich in dynamic contrasts but never neglecting the melodic dimension.Terrasson won the Victoires du Jazz 2003 for his album Smile, which was selected as the Best Album of the Year 2003 at the Midem Festival in Cannes. He was also nominated at the Golden Djangos awards in the Major Artist of the Year category.

Philippe Léogé

Philippe Léogé
From the day he discovered the broken old piano at the back of his father's mechanics workshop,  Philippe Léogé dreamed of becoming a musician, a dream that is now reality. From a variety orchestras to jazz groups, Léogé taught himself to arrange music and became passionate about free improvisation, beyond styles and genres, with the sole aim of letting the music follow its influences. Creator of the mythical Big Band 31, this multifaceted artist has shared the stage with Glenn Ferris, Jimmy Gourley, DeeDee Bridgewater, Philip Catherine, Steve Grossman and many others. He set up the 'Jazz sur son 31' festival and is its artistic director and also created and arranged programming for the 'On the Frontiers of Jazz' festival in the Palais des Rois de Majorque in Perpignan.Above all, he excels in and chooses to identify with recital around improvisation. His current repertoire, entitled 'Impro-Visa-Songs', is a voyage where the reminiscences of melodies are pretexts for spontaneous and total improvisation.
