Originally a character in Chu Yuchai's account of Wong Fei-hong's life, the character of "Dirty Ho" has been completely reinvented by writer Ni Kuang and director Lau Kar-leung for this spirited martial arts comedy. This time, Dirty Ho (Wang Yu) is recruited to help a Manchurian prince (Gordon Liu Chia-hui) find the hidden assassin who also happens to be one of the 14 heirs to the throne.

Blending gracefully choreographed martial arts with a fair dose of humour in his action scenes, Lau even appears to be gently poking fun at Cheng Cheh with a fight featuring a one-armed swordsman. A favourite among Shaw Brothers fans, Dirty Ho is a wonderfully entertaining crowd-pleaser that will please any action aficionado.
