Called by Serge Daney "the most beautiful French film of the decade", this lengthy work recasts Jean- Pierre Léaud, of Truffaut fame, in a probing and autobiographical examination of the lost dreams of 1968. A love triangle dissected, with compelling female performances as the live-in girlfriend (Bernadette Lafont) and a Polish nurse (Françoise Lebrun). Shot in Eustache's own apartment, it also becomes a powerful meditation on sex, love and a generation whose issues still speak to 20-something millennial as the power of its imagery and evocations transcends generations.
