The Rich and the Poor Poster

During the war, a mother is forced to give up one of her twin daughters, abandoning her at the doorstep of a wealthy family's home. Older sister Yuk-kit (Kong Suet) grew up in poverty with her mother and eventually becomes a family tutor through self-education. Spoiled all her life in her rich adopted family, the younger sister Sali (also Kong Suet) grew up to become an unreasonable girl who always demands to get her way.

Through a chance encounter, the two sisters are reunited, but their reunion turns into a self-destructive fight over Fan (Patrick Tse Yin), a cousin that Sa-li has always had a crush on. Not only did the production team have to overcome the technical challenge of putting two versions of the same actress in the same scene (remember that the film was made before computers were commonly used), Kong Suet had to convincingly portray two distinctly different characters that are clearly at the opposite ends of the personality spectrum.
