Charlie Catches the Cat Poster

Three students of a painter spend their days living on the roof without much future and tortured by the mouses in their buildings. One day, the three men hear girls screaming from downstairs, only to discover that it was the practising sessions for three female students of a Cantonese opera teacher living downstairs. After a series of "sing-offs" the painter trio fall in love with the Cantonese opera trio, though the ongoing feud between the painters' teacher (Mui Yan) and the Cantonese Opera teacher (Lydia Sum) may stop true love from blossoming.

But as it is the case in all great musicals, there's nothing between neighbours that a few songs can't solve! Tailor-made for Cheng Kwun-min's fans, this light musical comedy features ten songs performed by the Elvis Presley of the East. With his worn baggy pants and oversized shoes, Cheng's performance as the happy-go-lucky painter's disciple shows that this versatile performer may be equally great at emulating Charlie Chaplin as well.
