Inkling of the heart - A solo exhibition of Mavis Chan

Local artist, Mavis Chan, explores a new paradigm of Chinese painting in her solo exhibition. The exhibits present an innovative style of modern Chinese painting – it draws inspiration from contemporary living, as well as western artistic elements into traditional Chinese painting. The subjects of the exhibits would be a surprise to those accustomed to traditional Chinese paintings - an example being the depiction of rapid growth of modern technology. Through these works, the artist aims to challenge common notions of Chinese paintings traditions.
Mavis Chan
Mavis Chan is a research professional at CUHK. She studies under Mr. Cheng Tin-Hok to learn different genres of Chinese painting and calligraphy. Chan also practises western painting, such as medium of watercolor and oil, etc. She also studies western drawing and painting at CUSCS.
