In a beautiful theatrical reverie, director David Farr joins forces with Filter Theatre to present an exquisitely crafted story that reveals how the cracks in our most intimate human relationships resonate on a global scale.

Set beneath a vertical lake of light, ebbing from lavender to cerulean blue, Water intertwines two deeply personal dramas, both cast in the shadow of the struggle against climate change. Buoyed by live music and real-time video, this deft, dreamlike rendering of the personal and political asks how we can reach beyond ourselves and bond, like water, with those around us.

David Farr
David Farr is a writer and director and the associate director of the Royal Shakespeare Company, where he recently directed Hamlet. He was previously artistic director at the Lyric Hammersmith, where he established the Lyric as a driving force in visual theater. Farr was last at BAM for the 2011 Next Wave with his adaptation and production of Kafka's Metamorphosis with Icelandic company Vesturport.

Filter Theatre
Filter Theatre was founded in 2003 by artistic directors Oliver Dimsdale, Tim Phillips, and Ferdy Roberts. Bringing together actors, musicians, technicians, designers, writers, and directors, the company represents a new breed of theater in its creation of original works and thrilling incarnations of existing texts. It has been praised by London's Evening Standard for its "boldness of invention and groundbreaking use of sound" and has evoked comparisons to Complicite and Robert Lepage.

Next Wave Festival, organized by Brooklyn Academy of Music, BAM, is globally one of the most significant art festivals.
