《一天…》郑淑宜、赖雅如、梁静雯联展

"One day…", a group exhibition by three local female artists, Eastman Cheng Shuk Yee, Alice Lai Nga Yu and Castaly Leung Ching Man, is about stories and imaginations in the city. With different subject matters, like daily objects, flashing moments and human relationships, the featured works express the artists' hopes for one day and bring joy and love to the city.

The three artists bring a female perspective to their works. However, their art is not feminist nor is it overtly focussed on gender. Eastman Cheng uses textiles in her art, a material which she expertly transforms into four stages in the life of a woman in her "Chair" series. She also embroiders patterns into her portrayals of countries in her "Touring between UK and Africa". Themes of aging and symbols are universal but Cheng chooses to express herself through fabric and thread. Alice Lai captures imaginary landscapes in her colourful paintings "My Dear Earth" series.

These are expressions of joyful times that a mother and her child would share. Cartoon like images full of hope and love. Castaly Leung explores themes of relationships between people and the world in a natural palette. In "Always home", her diptychs contrast abstract forms and touching interactions among the figures she paints or prints on the canvas. Women, and their male counterparts, all have dreams and imagine a different reality for one day…
