法国的二十年代，被称为“疯狂年代”，当时第一次大战硝烟已逝，大家欢欣雀跃，巴黎人更是及时行乐。二十年代是法国自由解放、创作和文化丰饶的时期，妇女剪短头发和裙子，爵士乐成为社会风尚，文化圈子蓬勃，现代风格方兴未艾。为了向法国这个充满最刺激及最具创意的年代之一致敬。电影节期间（5月3日-31日），会在香港百老汇电影中心和PALACE IFC两个场馆放映相关影片。

作为法国五月艺术节2013(Le French May 2013)活动之一，疯狂的二十年代电影节(A Touch of Madness: The 20's)电影节目分为两部份：一部分特别放映二十年代的杰作。其中有些是按当时的观影习惯放映（由现场音乐伴奏），有些运用先进修复技术使之恢复当年的明亮质感，还有几部在两战期间拍摄的难得作品，则被保存完好，以至即使约八十年后，这些在两战期间拍摄的难得作品，仍可拿出来与观众见面。这些电影，当中不少均从未在香港放映。

另一部分则选映以法国二十年代为背景的当代电影。《香奈儿的情人》重拾昔日的巴黎风情，《粉红色的一生》则以香颂皇后伊迪丝·琵雅芙(Edith Piaf)的一生为蓝本。尚-积克·亚诺(Jean-Jacques Annaud)导演的《情人》则描写发生于印度支那半岛的一段法中禁恋，还有一部罕有的纪录片，拍摄了当时上海租界的情况。

法国的田园景色，可在下列三部影片中欣赏到：克劳德·贝利(Claude Berri)执导的《恋恋山城》和《恩怨情天》。还有2012年过世的导演克劳德·米勒(Claude Miller)的遗作"Therese Desqueyroux"，该片在2012年康城影展首映，这次则是香港首映。至于阿伦·雷奈(Alain Resnais)的歌舞片《严禁嘴对嘴》，多位耀眼明星在此大展歌喉。另外还有特别为年轻观众而设的影片，包括动画片《疯狂约会美丽都》（由动画大师Sylvain Chaumet执导）及《丁丁历险记》。
