Alexandre Dang的太阳能花之舞-法国五月艺术节2013

Swaying to the rhythm of the intensity of light, Dancing Flowers are displayed by the hundreds, arranged in the form of a field that harmoniously decorates a showcase.

This is socially conscious art that prompts reflection concerning respect for the environment, sustainable development, forms of renewable energy, and more generally, the sustainability of our modes of production and consumption.

Each flower is comprised of a motor that is powered by a photovoltaic solar cell. The solar cell transforms light into electricity, which then powers the motor and holds the flower in perpetual movement so long as there is light. Playful and poetic, these solar works deliver a strong message, one that promotes the use of renewable energy in a healthier world. The floral composition is a visual manifestation of solar or artificial light's ability to produce movement.

Alexandre Dang has developed a pedagogic aspect to his sustainable art, using it to educate young people about the potential of eco-friendly technologies with a focus on renewable energy.

Dang's Dancing Solar Flowers have become his most iconic work. The flowers have toured around the world, visiting the USA, China, Singapore, South Korea, Mexico, Brazil, Lebanon, Morocco, Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia, Estonia, and Romania...

Dang originally comes from a scientific background; he is an Engineer of the École Polytechnique (Paris) and of the École Nationale des Pontset Chaussées (Paris). Convinced of the need to raise awareness in the potential of environmentally friendly technologies and sustainable development, he incorporated solar energy as the power source of his kinetic art. His work is part of an artistic movement called “Solar Art” or "Solar Artwork” which integrates solar energy into works of art.
