iPRECIATION Hong Kong is pleased to present eminent Singapore artist Goh Beng Kwan's (b. 1937) latest 16 works from 3 to 27 April 2013. Goh is one of the most prominent figures among the second generation Singapore artists. He has achieved a distinctive style of painterly abstraction with traditional Chinese painting techniques after his formative years under Singapore pioneer artists Chen Wen Hsi and Cheong Soo Pieng. Moreover, he was also exposed to mainstream international art of the 1960s.

Embracing a rich diversity of colours and dynamic brushstrokes, his new works of ink on rice paper present a new perspective to experience our natural landscape, which is harmonious and vibrant. His rendition of his spiritual interpretation of natural scenery is melodic, lyrical and evocative.

Goh was awarded the prominent UOB (United Overseas Bank) Painting of the Year - First Prize in 1982 for his abstract collage work titled Sand Dune. In 1989 Goh received the Cultural Medallion, Singapore's most prestigious culture award, in recognition of his artistic achievements. His works are collected by Bank of America, the Australia High Commission, Deutsche Bank, Rabobank Netherlands, the Singapore Art Museum, Singapore Trade Development Board, United Overseas Bank, Chase Manhattan Bank in New York and private collectors worldwide.
