The client, Sakurai’s mother-in-law, was found dead. The cause of death was suicide. Although she suffered from dementia, she lived a cheerful life at the facility, and there seemed to be no particular reason for her to commit suicide.
Detective 542 (Ryoji Suzuki) immediately began his investigation, inspecting the facility with the “eyes” he inherited from his grandmother. What he saw was a group of elderly people committing mass suicide, believing in the afterlife. Detective 542 pursues the culprit behind it all.

Detective 575 (Mitsuru Fukikoshi) grieves at the funeral of Ms. Sakiko, who died in a traffic accident.
Her husband, Makoto Hashimoto, who was driving the car at the time, miraculously survived.
Around the same time, Detective 511 (Shuji Kashiwabara) is investigating a traffic accident from 20 years ago. A young couple involved in that accident were also treated as such, and the man miraculously survived. His investigation into this surviving man leads him back to the same person, Makoto Hashimoto. The points of investigation by Detectives 575, 511, and 542 begin to intersect.

While investigating separate cases, detectives 511 (Shuji Kashiwabara), 542 (Ryoji Suzuki), and 575 (Mitsuru Fukikoshi) were all pursuing the same person: Dr. Makoto Hashimoto. They receive a stern warning from 501 for their independent investigation without a client. The police have closed the case, but the five detectives decide to take on the challenge.
