Nakamura Fukusuke, a popular kabuki actor, collapsed due to a cerebral hemorrhage just before he could succeed the great stage name of “Nakamura Utaemon”. This incident began his fight against the paralysis on the right side of his body, and the aftereffect of “aphasia”, in which he had difficulty forming words. In order to return to the stage, it is essential for a kabuki actor to be able to speak his lines. With the support of his family members and doctors, Fukusuke gradually regained the words he “lost”, and made a triumphant return… For eight years, we closely followed kabuki actor, Nakumura Fukusuke, to document his challenge to return to the stage despite facing the major aftereffects of his illness.
大名跡「中村歌右衛門」を襲名する直前、脳出血に倒れた人気歌舞伎役者・九代目中村福助。 右半身のマヒと、言葉がうまく出てこない「失語症」という後遺症との闘いが始まった。 歌舞伎の舞台に戻るには、特にせりふをしゃべることが必須条件。 家族と医師の支えを受け、福助は”失った”言葉を少しずつ取り戻し、 そして舞台に復帰する・・・ 重い後遺症を抱えながら、それでも舞台に向かう歌舞伎役者・中村福助に8年にわたり密着、 その挑戦を伝える。
