「高橋尚子杯ぎふ清流ハーフマラソン」は岐阜市出身でシドニー五輪マラソンの金メダリスト・高橋尚子さんの「世界レベルのレースを日本で開催する」という思いのもと2011年に初開催、今回で14回目を迎える大会です。
世界の主要なロードレースを格付けするワールドアスレチックス（WA）のラベリング制度で国内のハーフマラソン大会で唯一ゴールドラベルにも位置付けられています。
今回は招待選手として、9月に開催される世界選手権東京大会で女子マラソン日本代表に選ばれた小林香菜選手、女子ではほかに2022年世界選手権のマラソンで優勝したエチオピアのゴティトム・ゲブレシラシエ選手、2023年世界選手権マラソン代表の松田瑞生選手らが出場。
男子では、ハーフマラソンの元日本記録保持者・設楽悠太選手、2024年の東京レガシーハーフマラソン2位のビダン・カロキ選手、この大会11回目の出場となる川内優輝選手らが出場します。
大会当日は、大会長である高橋尚子さんやアテネ五輪マラソン金メダリスト・野口みずきさんが一般ランナーを盛り上げます。清流・長良川や岐阜城がそびえる金華山など風光明媚なコースにも注目です。
“The Naoko Takahashi Cup Gifu Seiryu Half Marathon” was first held in 2011 with the vision of Naoko Takahashi, the Sydney Olympic marathon gold medalist from Gifu City, to host a world-class race in Japan. This year marks the 14th edition of the event. It is the only half marathon in Japan to receive the Gold Label status from World Athletics (WA), which classifies major road races worldwide.
This time, invited athletes include Kana Kobayashi, who was selected for the Japanese marathon team for the World Championships Tokyo in September, and Gotytom Gebreslase from Ethiopia, who won the marathon at the 2022 World Championships, along with Mizuki Matsuda, the representative for the 2023 World Championships marathon.
In the men’s category, participants include Yuta Shitara, the former Japanese record holder for the half marathon, Bidan Karoki, who placed second in the 2024 Tokyo Legacy Half Marathon, and Yuki Kawauchi, who is participating in this event for the 11th time.
On the day of the event, Naoko Takahashi, the president of the marathon, and Mizuki Noguchi, the Athens Olympic marathon gold medalist, will cheer on the general runners. The scenic course features the clear stream of the Nagara River and Mount Kinka with Gifu Castle towering above.
