About This Programme
Hong Kong theatre "Director Laureate" Fredric Mao re-imagines one of the most venerated 17th century Chinese legends of fidelity and deceit, revealing the truth about love in an age where life merely replicates soap operas.

Episodes from the legend and music from the opera are woven into a contemporary story about devotion and betrayal. In search of perfect love, the modern heroine becomes inspired by her counterpart in the legend, Fok Siu-yuk, who selflessly followed the stoney path of love for her lover Lee Yik.

A modern love epic fusing drama, storytelling, music and songs, The Liaisons features a star-studded creative team that includes award-winning screenwriters Alan Mak and Felix Chong (Infernal Affairs), composer Leon Ko and Oscar-winning designer Tim Yip (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and well-known actors Tse Kwan-ho, Josie Ho, Lam Kam-tong and Amy Wu.
