About This Programme
Trained at the Moscow Conservatory, Russian-born pianist Mikhail Rudy blazed onto the international concert stage when he performed Beethoven's Triple Concerto with Mstislav Rostropovich and Isaac Stern in 1977.
Rudy is celebrated for his superhuman virtuosity and innovative approach to staging music. A champion of Russian masterpieces and always interested in connecting with different art forms, he will perform a special programme conceived for the centenary of Ballets Russes, featuring the delightfully complex Petrushka in his own arrangement.
Crowning this all-Russian programme is the much-loved Pictures at an Exhibition, a splendid work written originally for the piano, most often heard in its many orchestral versions.
