About This Programme
Sa Dingding is an unparalleled world music artist. Her versatile, ethereal voice weaves a sonic tapestry of four languages – Tibetan, Sanskrit, Mandarin and a self-invented tongue.

She mixes Tibetan sounds with programmed samples over Chinese instrumentation, creating her own distinct brand of music. Her performance incorporates choreography and elaborate costumes inspired by the visual cultures and rituals of Asian ethnic groups.

Winner of the 2008 BBC World Music Award, Sa plays to rave reviews and enthusiastic audiences at major venues including Sydney Opera House, the BBC Proms at London’s Royal Albert Hall and WOMAD Festivals in Europe and the Middle East. Her album Alive has sold two million copies in Asia alone.
